The downs and ups of Snow Days
With grim headlines suggesting the recent spell of snowy weather could cost the UK economy in the region of £500 million per day and even threaten a triple dip recession, it may be hard to see snow days from a positive business perspective.
At Clear B2B seeing things differently is what we strive to do every day – identifying the positive, cutting through the noise and finding a clear purpose and a clear message.
So what did the snow day mean for us?
Like many businesses it changed the way we worked. Without access to all our usual tools and with the team and all our clients in unexpected locations, we had to do things differently. We all concluded the snow had not only altered the view from our windows, but it also had an impact on the inside too, with all of us ditching unnecessary activities and focusing on key objectives – the important stuff.
It helped many of us to take a fresh look at our client’s world, stepping back from the treadmill of day-to-day work to allow our creative juices free rein and to generate new ideas, as well as fine-tuning existing approaches for the benefit of our clients.
Work life can become filled with lots of unnecessary activity, and often we can’t see the metaphorical ‘wood for the trees’. Looking at your business landscape through different filters can be really powerful and certainly refreshing. Snow days can help you do this.
It also encouraged us to do something else differently…
