Season’s Greetings

Every year the dilemma of what to do with Christmas cards rears its head. Online or offline? Cheesy or cool? Does anyone care anyway?

What is the point of company Christmas cards? 1. To create warm fuzzy feelings in the minds of your customers, 2. To remind previous/potential customers that you’re there without pushing the hard sell. 3. Because it’s Christmas.

So if you’re going to bother to send them, then they need to stand out. The Christmas card does present an opportunity to be memorable and personal so it’s worth spending a bit of time on getting it right.

Digital cards have been terribly fashionable, but rely on the recipient having the time to look at non-essential email. We created a nice little interactive game with Father Christmas and snowballs a couple of years ago, which was quite good fun. A lot of people played with the game, but key decision makers were too busy to click through.

Christmas is a time for tradition and a well designed Christmas card which is appropriately branded can tick all the boxes. The challenge is to stand out from the herd.

We’re quite pleased with our little snow-globe this year. Certainly we’ve had more ‘thank yous’ for this than any other card we’ve done before. The challenge is now on to think about something which is going to be as good for next year…
