Primasil scoops award double for innovation in technology

We'd like to congratulate our client Primasil Silicones for award-winning success with its Paxman™ Cooling Cap. The cap, designed to mitigate hair loss during chemotherapy treatment has won both the Medilink West Midlands Innovation Award and the Medtech World Award for 2015.

Primasil worked in collaboration with its academic partner, the University of Huddersfield, to develop the cooling cap for Paxman™, the leading manufacturer of scalp cooling equipment for chemotherapy patients.

The challenge for Primasil was to develop a new silicone rubber formulation that would give the reusable cap greater flexibility to adapt to varying head shapes and sizes to ensure the coolant running through the cap was always in close contact with the scalp.

"We are thrilled with the awards," commented Primasil’s Medical Division Manager, Caroline Herdman: "It is wonderful recognition of what we can do for an industry where product innovation makes a real difference to people’s lives."

Now it's fingers crossed for April when Primasil will be representing the region at the National Medilink UK Awards, where we’ll be rooting for a hat-trick of wins!
